Q&A: Zantac?????

Category: ZantacPrescription Search @ 3:00 pm

Question by E: Zantac?????
I am dying of the worst heartburn ever…everyday!!!

I am pregnant and it gets worse everyday. I have been taking zantac 150..a miracle drug if you ask me. The dosage is no more than 2 a day. However…..2 a day no longer cuts it for me. Zantac is pretty safe right???? Is it really that bad to take 3 a day. Anyone have any experience with this drug?
PS my doctor prescribed Zantac. I was not taking it without a doctors knowledge.

Q&A: Extremly fussy newborn.. help!?

Category: ZantacPrescription Search @ 3:38 am

Question by mommyof2: Extremly fussy newborn.. help!?
My son is 6 days old and his crying started on day 2. Not sleeping much at night, which I realize is common, but he’s not happy when he’s awake. About 2-3 times a day he will cry so hard and is completly inconsolable for about 15 minutes. This is on top of the usual just normal fussiness. I have tried switching from breastfeeding to Soy formula. I had left over “baby zantac” from my older son, so I gave him some of that. I also have given him gripe water and all the natural soothing methods i.e. white noise, bouncing, singing, swaddling, etc. Nothing seems to help. I’m bringing him in tomorrow to see the doctor because I feel helpless! My poor boy :( Any thoughts or suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by Tu
Could it be that he’s colicky? I think doctors may have something to give him for that. Other than that, just try to ride it out. Newborns do cry a lot. Try to comfort him as much as you can to reassure him you’re there. Hope that helps.

crazy doctors?

Category: ZantacPrescription Search @ 1:38 pm

Question by sunshine: crazy doctors?
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in the last 6 month. This has greattly put a damper on houswork, and has given me serious “fibro fog. cant concentrate, etc… So my family doctor referred me to a pian clinic. I have given it a fair shot as far as meds go…considering the anti inflammatory give me such problems in my stomach, cramps and vomiting. I saw the doctor yesterday and he siad he was keeping me on the same meds i have been taken. i asked him what i should do about the anti inflammatory stomach problems and he said and i quote ” take a zantac.” Not acceptable to me. and then he tells me that he cant see me in 3 months. bull shit basically. So i got to looking around and there is a specialist in fibromyalgia at the university but i need a referra. which i hope will help. i dont believe that the pain clinic doctor knows anything about fibro, not to mention he a real dickhead. so i ‘am counting on this referral, and finding a dr that wont condecend me.
I completely understand thateveryone with fibro. has different pain and different situations. but i swear on my life that the doctor was in the exam room for about 7.5 minutes, Now i understand he is busy but, come on!i sit in the waiting room and there are no seats left, there are that many patients. theres no way he even listened to what i had to say. but the “take a zantac or mylanta, every 2 hours.” Im aready plugged up anyways. so this is gonna be a problem. i seem like i am whining. sorry. my question is am i making the right decision to get a second opinion? I really have no choice do i? thanks for the answer! sunshine

Answer by Janealane
I have fibromyalgia. Definitely get a second opinion. Getting a second, third, fourth or how ever many opinions you want is not wrong! That is the best thing you can do for yourself. No matter what I hope you find what works for you. I was just wondering though if you have seen a endocrinologist? I would think about that if I were you because they might could find something that no one else has thought of. ( find a good one) It might pleasantly surprise you. I wish you the best!

Q&A: do doctors not have to tell you all the side effects of a medicine?

Category: ZantacPrescription Search @ 1:39 am

Question by pinkone324: do doctors not have to tell you all the side effects of a medicine?
okay, so i was taking zantac, and after a while my mom and i started noticing that my hair falling out. my mom says “maybe it’s that zantac” and i said “no it couldn’t be, because the doctor didn’t say anything about hair loss” so anyway, i continue to use the zantac until one day I could physically tell that i’d lost a lot of hair! so my mom eventually looks up the side effects of zantac and it said that hair loss is a rare side effect. when i heard this, i was furious because my doctor didn’t tell me ANYTHING about this! soo my question is, are docs allowed to keep that kind of info from their patient? even if it’s “rare”?
i’d appreciate NON-ATTITUDE. i’m still a teen, give me a damn break! i’m still growing on the whole “common-sense” thing SHEESH! smart asses! i didn’t know that you had to ask about all that, i just figured the doctor had to tell you everything! and i’m not dissing doctors!! i just wanted to know! it’s a simple yes or no question, no need to attack me! no wonder people get so discouraged to do things! it’s not like i’m planning to take legal action, SHIT! i just wanted to know. damn! a less attitude-ish answaer would’ve been appreciated! i just couldn’t get a simple “yes, but you should always ask the doctor about rare side effects” damn! it wasn’t on the bottle or anything so i just figured! like i said i’m still a teen, so lay off!

They don’t always remember to tell you the side effects and you should have asked and or read the information that comes with the medication. Hair loss is one of the less common side effects.

Do doctors not have to tell you all the side effects of a medicine?

OKAY, LET’S TRY THIS AGAIN! i posted this question yesterday and got back soo many rude responses! it angered me when i first saw them, but then i realized that i’d left out some critical points. I AM JUST A TEENAGER! this question was NOT meant to penalize doctors or blame them for anything! and NO, I DON’T HAVE A COLLEGE EDUCATION [to whoever said that on my question before] I just want a yes or no answer, seriously. the info wasn’t on the bottle or the little paper the doctor gave me, AND I DIDN’T get any info from the pharmacy. don’t take me exclamation points as anger, i use exclamation points when i get excited. i feel that the attacks in the other question were VERY UNNECESSARY! whether i was an adult or not, and if i was that type of person that got sad easily, you could’ve really shot me down low! i knw it’s the internet, but DAMN, the rudeness was not okay. can i get just a yes or no answer? especially to all the “nurses” out there that attacked me on this comment
i also dnt need all the background info of why i was right or wrong for not asking. LIKE I SAID, still a teen, i didn’t knw! i will from now on; it was a learning experience/a mistake. DON’T act like you haven’t made one before.

*urghh. and please. no smart remarks on this! if you think this question is “BS” or “stupid” then just leave please/thx.
