If I am allergic to certain antibiotics can I have an allergic reaction by having sex w/someone taking them?
I am allergic to a lot of different antibiotics and my partner is taking cipro for epidimitis. We recently had sex and about an hour later I itched all over? Is it maybe because the antibiotics are in the bodily fluids?

Why Antibiotics are to Blame for Acne
There are many suggestions out there on what to eat, what not to eat. Different diets and different products for acne. There’s scientific studies that claims diet has nothing to do with acne and there’s scientific studies that proves a certain food causes acne. There’s such a big misunderstanding on the topic of acne that no one has a clue what they’re talking about anymore. When a study comes out claiming one thing, a couple months later another study comes out claiming the complete opposite. What these studies lack is the ability to look for internal causes. What they actually do is the complete opposite, they look for external causes. What they find in there studies is that bacteria is to blame. But really, if bacteria is the true cause why isn’t it highly contagious? What science does to cure acne is something you probably already tried. Accutane, the once thought miracle and only solution to acne. Let me tell you a secret that might shock you if you are or have used accutane. The big shock is that accutane is most likely causing acne in the fist place. Of cause your probably saying you took accutane after acne appeared so it can’t be causing it. First of all, what is accutane? Accutane is a antibiotic. I’m 99.9% sure you taken some sort antibiotic in the past. You are given antibiotics as soon as your born so its rare to find someone who hasn’t taken it. So, how is antibiotics to blame for acne? Antibiotics is known to form something called “Candida Overgrowth”. Candida overgrowth is what happens when the internal bacteria environment gets out of balance and causes a microorganism called candida albicans to mutate to a fungal or a mycelial
form. Mycelial Candida cells are able to pierce the small intestine, thereby entering the bloodstream and spreading throughout the body. Mycelial candida cells release eighty toxins each. Multiple that by billions and you can see the massive amount of toxins your body had to deal with. Combine with the natural release of toxins from normal cell, it can really stress the detoxifying organs. So with all that been said, the first step in eliminating acne is not killing off bacteria, its the elimination of Candida.

Is it a better idea to take antibiotics (flagyl) during my period or after?
I know antibiotics affect your immune system. Also, during a period your immune system is at it’s lowest. I have a really good immune system so I don’t believe I’ll get sick as I haven’t been in years. I just apparently have a bacterial infection, which is why I have to take flagyl for a week. Its weird, just what I was told at routine check up. No symptoms or smells. I’ve taken probiotic pearls for over a year… shouldn’t this prevent cases like this or would it make a strip test show positive? Anyways, I just wanna get the flagyl out the way and I start my period tonight/tomorrow and I’m on birth control (yaz to yasmin). Was thinking I should start the antibiotics after the 3rd day/pill of yasmin. Does it make any difference. I will be taking AZO yeast to prevent any other infections during the flagyl!!

9 Mar 08. On 15 Mar 08, after 12d Bactrim, 2d bacitracin. On 17 March, gave dermatologist a table of all antibiotics, dates & doses given. D/c’d bacitracin; started topical hydrocortisone. We knew it would get better or worse.

Acne Treatments with the Use of Birth Control Pills And Antibiotics
For some female patients, treatment resistant acne is caused by excessive production of hormones called androgens. With extra androgens in your system, your oil producing glands go into high gear and so does your acne. Several clues can help your doctor identify acne that may be influenced by hormones: acne that appears in adults for the first time acne flare ups preceding the menstrual cycle irregular menstrual cycles hirsutism excessive growth of hair or hair in unusual places and elevated levels of certain androgens in the blood stream.
Adult women and teenage girls whose acne has resisted treatment with antibiotics or topical retinoids may be candidates for hormonal therapy. Once a patients acne is identified as hormonally influenced, the doctor will be able to prescribe a number of different therapies, or perhaps a combination of several different drugs combination therapy is often the best approach to this kind of acne. Following are a few common components of therapy for hormonal acne, but remember to consult your doctor before using any of the remedies listed here.
Acne Birth Control Pill Oral contraceptives. Birth control pills a combination of estrogen and progestin taken orally are often prescribed for hormonal acne. Low doses of estrogen help suppress the androgens produced by the ovaries, and the newer progestin agents, including desogestrel and norgestimate, are less androgenic than those found in older formulations. While the FDA for this indication currently approves only Ortho Tri Cyclen and Estro Step, experts agree that low-dose contraceptives improve acne regardless of which formula is used. Consult your gynecologist to find the formula that’s right for you. While side effects are uncommon, some women may experience brownish blotches, or melasma hyperpigmentation on the skin. These can be treated with topical bleaching agents.
Acne Birth Control Pill Anti androgens. In combination with oral contraceptives, doctors also may prescribe an anti androgen these drugs inhibit androgen production in the ovaries and adrenal glands and help prevent existing androgens from causing excessive oil production. Spironolactone, a high blood pressure medicine with anti androgenic properties, has proven quite effective in the treatment of acne. Side effects may include breast tenderness, menstrual irregularities in women not using oral contraceptives, headache and fatigue since its also a diuretic, you may experience frequent urination as well.
NOTE Spiranolactone is tetrogenic and can cause feminization of a male fetus. If you are sexually active and not taking the pill, its imperative that you use another form of birth control.
Acne Birth Control Pill Corticosteroids. Small doses of corticosteroids, like prednisone or dexamethasone, may curb inflammation and suppress the androgens produced by the adrenal glands. Keep in mind that in some acne sufferers, corticosteroids may actually aggravate acne theyre most effective when used in combination with oral contraceptives.
In conclusion, if you think your acne is hormonally induced, see your doctor right away. While this kind of acne requires a different course of treatment, it is highly treatable. More about your hormones.
For patients who suffer from moderate to severe acne, doctors may prescribe a combination of topical remedies and oral antibiotics. The most common oral medications used to treat acne are tetracycline, minocycline, doxycycline and erythromycin.
Antibiotics for Acne HOW THEY WORK
Like Benzoyl Peroxide, antibiotics control breakouts by curbing the bodys production of
P. acnes, the bacteria that causes acne, and decreasing inflammation. This process may take several weeks or months, so be patient. And remember, youre not cured just because your breakouts have subsided. That’s the medicine doing its job so if you stop taking it, your acne will probably come back. Likewise, doubling up on your medication wont make your skin clear up twice as fast. Using your topical antibiotics more frequently than prescribed may actually induce greater follicular irritation and plugging, which slows clearing time. And taking your oral medications more often than prescribed wont help your skin clear faster but it will increase your chance of experiencing unpleasant side effects.
Antibiotics for Acne WHERE TO GET THEM
If you have moderate to severe acne, consult your dermatologist he or she will discuss your options and help you make the best choice. Once you have begun treatment, give it time to start working. Keep your doctor apprised of your progress, so he or she can make changes to the course of treatment if necessary. And again, do not stop using your medication when your skin clears let your doctor make that call.
Antibiotics for Acne COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
With most of the antibiotics used to treat acne, side effects may include photosensitivity higher risk of sunburn, upset stomach, dizziness or lightheadedness, hives, lupus like symptoms and skin discoloration. Some women report a higher incidence of vaginal yeast infection while taking antibiotics these can usually be treated with over the counter antifungal medication or a prescription antifungal, such as diflucan. Tetracycline is not given to pregnant women or children under twelve years of age because it can discolor developing teeth. Lastly and least common, because doxycycline is also the treatment of choice for Lyme disease, there is the theoretical possibility that a patient who takes this medication for a long period of time would build a resistance, and therefore be unable to fight Lyme.

Went to the OBGYN with lower abdominal burning and frequent urination symptoms. Since test resuts were not availalbe for a few days, he gave me antibiotic anyway ( Cipro). Called today and was told that there is no bladder infection. I am concern that I just took antibiotics with no reason. Advice?

Old antibiotics Cipro?
I went and saw my sister today and she told me she was taking Cipro she had from 2 years ago because she had a sinus infection and couldn’t get in to see the Dr for a few more days. I tried telling her that taking out dated antibiotics is not good for you and could cause her to get sick. She said the doctor had given them to her 2 years ago for a sinus infection but she has only taken 1 out of it because at that time she was taking pencillin for a tooth infection and she had 10 days of Cipro left. She wont listen to me. She is a grown lady and she knows better. Should I intervene? Could she get really sick from taking antibiotics from 2 years ago?

Cipro (Ciproflaxican) Antibiotics Question?
I have bronchitis and my dr prescribed Cipro – 500mg 2x daily for 10 days.
I am having skipped heartbeats at night when I lay down and the meds are just making me feel crappy. Called the dr and he said the skipped heartbeats are because it’s a strong antibiotic and it’s fine – keep taking it. The side effects list is a mile long and includes some VERY scary things.
Has anyone else taken Cipro with no problems?
