Current anti-biotic (Cipro) not working for sinus infection. Ideas?

Category: CiproPrescription Search @ 3:10 pm

For years, I have had several sinus infections every year, and each time, get prescribed antibiotics. Though they clear it up, it’s gotten to the point where the common ones (Zithromax, Augmentin, Biaxin) don’t work anymore. I usually see an allergy doc since I have bad allergies. Last March, I had another infection; started out on Cipro, then when that didn’t work after several days, he put me on Avelox which did. Last summer, I felt the same symptoms, but this time, a different allergist looked at my sinuses and said I should just use Sinus Rinse, nasal sprays (Astelin, Flonase) and decongestants, and the treatment worked! Had 1 or two after that and the treatment worked again. A week ago, the same thing occurred, but after a week of seeing no improvement and having asthma-like coughing, I saw the first allergist who said I should try Cipro again with prednisone; if those didn’t work, we’d try another. After 2 and a half days, I have not improved, and the cough is a bit worse–I hear a gurgling noise when I exhale hard. Is this too soon to contact him? He said I should start getting better in 2 – 3 days. I’m also wondering if Avelox is the one to go to next. Researching online, other antiobiotics I see are Ceftin, Lorabid, Levaquin, Rifampin, Vancomycin and Ofloxacin. I’m hoping that someone has some ideas that I can suggest as Avelox is pretty expensive. Thanks!

Is it possible for cipro to accidentally get rid of a sinus infection?

Category: CiproPrescription Search @ 4:21 pm

I had to go to jungle part of the Philippines for a project, and I got sick because of the water. I took a course of cipro, and it seemed to clear up my gastrointestinal problem, but it also had another odd, unexpected event.

After I finished the course, I noticed that I was able to breathe MUCH more easily. I hadn’t really noticed it, but over the years, I guess my sinuses had been clogging up, perhaps because of an inflammation or infection.

But after the cipro course, they cleared up dramatically, and remain clear several months later.

Is that just coincidence, or is it possible for cipro to clear up a sinus infection?

Use a Sinus Infection Treatment That Suits You Best

Category: DiflucanPrescription Search @ 3:10 am

Many years passed without people knowing which type of treatment to use when they have been subjected to sinus infections. It is only recently that possible types of treatment were discovered and placed into two distinct groups. These groups include the natural treatments and medicinal treatments.

Frequent consumption of hot liquids has for sometime now been considered to be one form of a natural sinus infection treatment. This approach helps to moisturize the mucous membranes found around your sinuses and at the same time help speed up the movement of the little hairs found in your nasal cells referred to as celia. By doing this, mucus found in the sinuses is rapidly removed and free flow of air is established in the process. Some of these hot liquids that can be used here include, hot tea that may be black or herbal, hot chicken soup but not hot coffee because it has been proven not to be very effective.

Application of various warm compressors on your face has been seen to be another possible sinus infection treatment. This method has the ability to assist with the circulation in the sinuses which leads to an increased celia movement inside the nose, and as a result of this, mucus is able to be removed from the sinuses and is eventually prevented from causing any type of air blockage.Small soaked towels are mostly used to implement this kind of treatment and for a long time now, they have not been a disappointment.

When we turn to medicinal approaches, we find that the use of antibiotics has always been seen as the ideal sinus infection treatment. The reason behind this is, due to the fact that many sinus infections are considered to be caused by bacteria and bacterial infections have always been treated by antibiotics, it then seems suitable for sinus infections to be treated by the same. However, specific types of antibiotics will be used to treat specific types of bacterial sinus infections. Therefore, a proper diagnosis from your doctor to determine the actual cause of the infection is required. This reason then prompts the doctor to use your blood sample to establish the actual cause and the subsequent type of antibiotic that is needed to treat the infection. Some of the antibiotics that are commonly used to treat bacterial sinus infections include Klacid and Amoxicillin antibiotics. For fungi infections, Diflucan antibiotic is mostly preferred.

Decongestants are other forms of medicines that can be used as sinus infection treatment. Their main work is to help in unblocking the nasal passages something that leads to relieving the patient from temporary sinusitis symptoms. They do this by accelerating the movement of nasal celia which ensure that mucus is quickly removed from the sinuses. The decongestants responsible for this work may be in the form of tablets, sprays and even syrup. They are however supposed to be taken as per the directions given by your doctor so as to avoid causing more harm to your body.

For those of you who may have been diagnosed to have been infected by allergies, the best form of sinus infection treatment for you is the use of antihistamines. These medicines are used to clear the particular allergens (substances that cause allergies in the body) that make you have sinusitis. The drugs are known to reduce irritation in the eyes, reduce the amount of sneezing and also reduce the amount of mucus production in the nose. Like any other form of medicine, antihistamines should be taken according to the doctors instructions.

Nicotine detox or sinus drainage?

Category: AmoxilPrescription Search @ 11:10 pm

I just quit smoking a little over a week ago, and yesterday I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, and prescribed Amoxil. I’ve been taking the antibiotic like I should, as well as Tylenol Severe Sinus for congestion & drainage. I’m feeling a bit better than I was earlier today, but I keep getting this weird feeling in my lungs, like they itch. I’ve searched it but everything seems to say it’s either asthma or pneumonia, but I don’t have shortness of breath or fever, so I know those aren’t the causes. I was just wondering, maybe is this a result of nicotine detox & drainage?

Chronic Sinus Headaches, Or Could It Be Something Else?

Category: LevitraPrescription Search @ 12:55 pm

Many people believe they suffer from chronic sinus headaches because they frequently suffer from sever pain around their sinus areas in their face and head. It is possible to have chronic sinus headaches however the condition is rare and can only be diagnosed by a doctor.

A chronic sinus headache would not be as painful as the more common acute sinus headache which occurs during a sinus infection. When sinuses are clogged bacteria can grow in the nasal passages creating an infection of the nasal passages commonly known as a sinus infection.

The headache associated with a sinus infection is quite severe and common treatments such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen will not help the pain. Chronic sinus headaches and acute sinus headaches will often require antibiotics to kill the infection as well as medications to alleviate the sinus pain.

Migraine Headaches

Many self-diagnosed chronic sinus headache suffers could actually be suffering from migraine headaches, the pain occurs in much the same places in the face and head. However, the cause of migraine headaches are varied and rarely are related to an illness.

Some people who believe they suffer from chronic sinus headaches believe the change in weather or pollution such as chemical smells or smoke are the cause of their sinus headache. In fact, these are triggers of migraine headaches.

If an allergy does exist it would not cause a sinus headache, because with allergies such as pollen, dander, or dust which cause nasal drainage. The fact that there is drainage omits the possibility of chronic sinus headache occurrences.

Moreover, many people take over the counter medications for sinus headaches such as sinus relief medicines, allergy medicines, or other pain relieving medication. However, these medications often will have no effect on the headache.

Tension Headaches

Tension headaches are also often thought to be pain masquerading as chronic sinus headaches. Tension headaches can cause pain in the temples and across the forehead. Because of this many people do mistake tension headaches for chronic sinus headaches.

Many tension headaches are accompanied by pain in the neck and shoulders. Sometimes the pain is right at the base of the head. Because there are also glands here, this can confuse many people into believing that they are suffering from chronic sinus headaches instead of tension headaches.

A doctor can perform tests to determine if a person has chronic sinus headaches. If someone believes they have chronic sinus headaches they should immediately contact a physician as medial treatment is necessary to relieve the pain and kill the infection.

Stabbing pain in left sinus cavity?

Category: AmoxilPrescription Search @ 11:17 pm

I started coughing about 2 weeks ago on Sunday and my ob gave me some cough meds (Tessalon Perles) and told me it’ll help. It didn’t and by Saturday I had developed what I thought was a cold.. bad sneezing and clogged/runny nose. I called the ob Monday (I’m 25 weeks preggo) and they told me that there was nothing they could do and if i felt i needed a doctor i should see my general practitioner. I delt with it more and by Thursday my coughing deminished but I was spitting up green yucky stuff. By Saturday I had a horrible pain in my right cheek. I figured out it was my sinus cavity when my right one started up. The right one doesn’t hurt too bad.. not near as bad as my left one. Its hurting all the way down to my teeth and up to my eye – feels like someone is stabbing me constantly. I went to the doctor yesterday (general prac.. not ob) and he said i have a very bad sinus infection in left sinus cavity and gave me a steroid shot and antibiotic shot as well as an albuterol breathing treatment and script for 3,000 mg of amoxil a day (wow!) My face was feeling so much better until about 2 hours ago when it started hurting just as bad again. Any idea why? I’m still taking my meds but it hurts so bad.. ugh! This has been going on for 2 1/2 weeks! Why can’t i just feel better?!?
