Question by sheila b: Can taking zocor cause the side effect of itching and feeling of pins and needles?
My husband just started about 6 weeks ago taking Zocor. Now he feels itchy, but in a funny sort of way. Could it be the medication?

Yes it could I’ve been told that it can effect your nerve endings. It’s best to talk to your doctor though. My doctor also told me to watch for leg pain and cramps.

u say he’s been taking it for 6 weeks? it’s time to check his cholesterol, liver panel, and his CPK (cpk important to check, this is to check for his muscle enzymes). the pins and needle feeling possibly could be from zocor but i don’t know abt. the itching. usually when someone is allergic to any meds..the rash, redness usually shows up rather quickly..like a day or 2 of taking the meds. if it’s bothersome, stop the zocor….or he can cut it in half and see what happens. he shouldn’t postpone the blood test thou.
